General Health and Safety Training Course

First Aid Regulations are contained in Part 7 chapter 2 of the General Application Regulations 2007first- Under the regulations First aid means

(a) in a case where a person requires treatment from a registered medical practitioner or a registered general nurse, treatment by “your first aider” for the purpose of preserving life or minimizing the consequences of injury or illness until the services of a practitioner or nurse are obtained, or
(b) in a case of a minor injury which would otherwise receive no treatment or which does not need treatment by a registered medical practitioner (Doctor) or registered general nurse, treatment of that minor injury by “your first aider”;
“occupational first-aider” means a person trained and qualified in occupational first-aid.

All places of work must have a properly trained and competent first aider where the risks show that this is required. Since all places of work have varying degrees of risk some much greater than others, this applies to almost all premises where persons are employed. It is also best practice to have at least one properly trained first aider available in all organisations voluntary and otherwise for example sports clubs and football clubs.
